FEC holds off on minimum wage memo for further consultation
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) reveals that they have decided to hold off on the memo concerning the new minimum wage.
During a briefing with State House Correspondents, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, shared that a total of 39 items were addressed during the meeting.
Regarding the minimum wage topic, he mentioned the report prepared by the Tripartite committee, which includes representatives from local government, states, NLC/TUC, and the federal government.

Although the Tripartite Committee had submitted its report, Minister Idris highlighted that the Council was unable to make a decision as it requires input from various stakeholders such as Local Government, states, FG, Organised Private Sector, and Labour unions.
In light of this complexity, the memo on the new minimum wage has been put on hold to allow for President Bola Tinubu to undertake extensive consultations before a final submission is presented to the National Assembly.
