The primary purpose of this trust fund is to facilitate swift responses by the Federal Government to humanitarian crises within the nation. The government aims to generate a minimum of $5 billion annually to support the trust fund.

Funding sources will include contributions from the Federal Government, private and international organisations, as well as philanthropic individuals. Additionally, the minister emphasized that state governments will play a significant role in the initiative.

In another notable decision, FEC has approved the ratification of the protocol for the protection of the rights of elderly citizens in alignment with the African Charter. This move reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of senior citizens in the country.
