FIDA swears in newly elected executives for Yobe branch (Pictures)

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Yobe branch, has on Thursday, sworn in newly elected executive members of the association in the state.
The swearing-in, which was carried out by the Chief Magistrate, Amina Abubakar Bashir, was held at the state secretariat in Damaturu.
The Chief Magistrate called on the FIDA Executives to be dedicated and ensure to carry all the female lawyers along and work by the FIDA constitution.
Speaking to newsmen, the outgoing Chairperson of FIDA Yobe Branch, Barrister Hannatu Farouk Jauro highlighted some of the association’s achievements including prosecuting a lot of GBV cases with the support of the Ministry of Justice and was able to secure convictions of 1,5,7,10,15,25 year and up to life imprisonment.

According to her, “We also ensured that adequate compensation was given to survivors of GBV and FIDA Yobe Branch were at the forefront through SARO Steering Committee to advocate CJ for the designation of a special court in Yobe state of which is now a reality among others”.
In her acceptance speech, the newly elected FIDA Chairperson, Aisha Isa, pledged to serve as a true servant leader, dedicating herself to championing the rights of women and children in the state.
She further stated, “I commit to promoting gender equality and providing free legal services to those in need, ensuring that justice and protection become accessible to all”.
The newly elected FIDA executive members are; Chairperson, Aisha Isa; Vice Chairperson, Fatima A Muhammad; Secretary, Fatima M. Auwal; Assistant Secretary, Zara I. Mustapha and Treasurer, Hauwa U. Hardo.
Others include Publicity Secretary, Hadiza N. Geidam; Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hafsat S. Abdulwahab; Financial Secretary, Kaltime Aliyu and Welfare Secretary, Fatima A. Nguru respectively.
