Five Abuja abducted sisters regain freedom

Five of the six sisters from the Al-Kadriyar family, who were abducted by bandits in the Bwari area of Abuja, have regained their freedom on Saturday night, following their recent kidnapping.

The details surrounding their release, whether they were rescued by security operatives or released after their family paid ransom, could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.

However, an uncle to the girls, Kabiru Aminu, who disclosed the news of their release, posted a video on his X handle @kabiru_aminu, showing the sisters and their relatives jubilating.

“#Najeebahandhersisters are home right now, someone please wake me up!” he tweeted.

“#Najeebahandhersisters. These girls are strong,” he added in a follow up tweet.

The six sisters were initially kidnapped alongside their father, and the gunmen later released their father, urging him to secure N60m as ransom for the release of his daughters before a specified deadline.

In an attempt to raise the ransom, a call for donations was made, but it was not enough to gather the required amount. Regrettably, the gunmen reportedly killed the eldest sister and left her body for her parents to bury.

Yet, it is worth noting that Ex-minister Pantami previously revealed, in a tweet from his X handle a week ago, that an unnamed friend had pledged to contribute N50 million towards their release.

According to reports, after killing the victim, the bandits raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million and threatened to kill the remaining five sisters of their demand was not met within the shortest possible time.

Following this tragic event, the Nigeria Police Force expressed its commitment to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and assured the public of ongoing plans to prevent further kidnapping cases across the country.
