Flash floods in Pakistan leave six dead, nine injured

At least six people were killed and nine injured in flash floods triggered by monsoon rains in Pakistan over the past 24 hours, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The NDMA released a report on Monday stating that three women and a child were among the fatalities in separate flood-related incidents.

The death toll from this season’s monsoon rains and floods, which began on June 25, has now reached approximately 86, with 151 people injured, as reported by the NDMA.

The hardest-hit region was the eastern Punjab province, where 52 people lost their lives, followed by the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 20 casualties.

The report also mentioned that 97 houses were destroyed, and 46 livestock animals perished in various parts of Pakistan.

Rescue and relief operations are currently underway in the flood-affected areas, involving the NDMA, other government organizations, volunteers, and non-governmental organizations.
