Germany’s Ogunleye seals gold in women’s shot put with last-minute throw

In a dramatic finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye clinched the gold medal in the women’s shot put on August 9, 2024. Ogunleye’s winning throw of 20.00 meters, delivered in her final attempt, secured her position at the top of the podium.

The competition was intense, with New Zealand’s Maddison-Lee Wesche finishing just behind Ogunleye. Wesche’s best throw measured 19.86 meters, placing her in second. Song Jiayuan of China earned the bronze with a throw of 19.32 meters.
