Gov. Buni, deputy, others attend funeral prayers of late Commissioner (Photos)

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana amongst other top government functionaries in Damaturu attended funeral prayers for late Commissioner for Youths, Sports, Social and Community Development, Goni Bukar Lawan.
The funeral prayers led by Chief Iman Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Damaturu, Sheikh Hudu Muhammad Yusuf were conducted in Damaturu.
Governor Buni, and his deputy prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased in Aljannatur Firdaus, and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant his family and the people of the state the fortitude to bear the loss.
Sympathisers within and outside Yobe State attended the funeral prayer and described the death of late Goni Bukar Lawan as a huge loss to the state and the country.
Late Goni Bukar Lawan was said to have attended the funeral of his friend, the Director of Finance and Supply of the Upstream of the NNPC, Hassan Gambo, on Tuesday afternoon in Damaturu before embarking on an official trip to Kano where he was involved in an accident near Dambam, a community in Bauchi State.
Two of his friends, who were with him during the accident are responding to treatment in one of the health facilities in the state.
Aged 58, late Lawan left behind wives, children, grandchildren, and an aged mother Hajjia Hafsat Lawan.
He was a former member of Yobe State House of Assembly representing Bursari Constituency from 1999 to 2003. Commissioner for Land, Survey and Solid Minerals, elected member, Federal House of Representatives for Bursari, Geidam, and Yunusari Federal Constituency and Commissioner for Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development.
At the funeral prayers, people recognised the deceased enormous contributions on the floor of the Green Chamber where he represented his people with so much passion before becoming a member of the Yobe State cabinet.
He was buried according to Islamic rites at Gwange graveyard in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
