Gov. Buni hails philanthropist Balarabe Abdullahi for rebuilding fire-ravaged Nguru community

Story by Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Governor Mai Mala Buni has issued a formal commendation praising a renowned philanthropist from Nguru in Yobe state, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi, popularly known as Balarabe DJ, for the complete reconstruction and modernisation of the Rugar Balarabe community in Nguru Local Government Area, following a devastating fire incident.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the governor described the donor’s intervention as a landmark achievement in private philanthropy.

The project transformed the site of a burnt Fulani settlement into a fully-equipped, modern community donated entirely free of charge to displaced families.

The newly built Rugar Balarabe features a comprehensive suite of facilities, including modern two-bedroom flats, a functional community clinic and a community mosque.

Others include solar-powered boreholes for water and complete solar electrification for both homes and streets.

Governor Buni emphasised that the donation aligns and significantly progresses his administration’s rural revitalisation agenda.

“You have not only restored the dignity of the displaced families but have also set a high standard for civic leadership in Yobe State,” the governor stated, highlighting the “forward-thinking approach to sustainable infrastructure.”

The governor’s message extended gratitude on behalf of both the government and the people of Yobe State, thanking the donor for his “unwavering patriotism and commitment to the welfare of our citizens.”

He expressed the hope that the act of generosity would serve as an inspiration to others, concluding with “the assurances of my highest esteem and warmest regards “to the benefactor.
