Gov. Buni inspects Yobe maternal, child healthcare complex, assures on improved health care facilities

Yobe State Governor and Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday inspected the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health complex under construction at the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Damaturu.

Governor Buni who expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done at the centre said the project is important and special to his administration.

“Healthcare delivery is a key priority area of this administration, we are committed to complete this very gigantic and ambitious project to improve Maternal and Child healthcare in the state,” he said.

Governor Buni also assured the commitment of his administration in meeting its contractual obligations to ensure quality and timely completion of the complex.

When completed, the complex will contribute immensely in reducing Maternal and Child mortality and morbidity in the state.

The Governor Buni administration initiated the construction of the Maternal and Child Healthcare complex comprising of seven-storey buildings, with 32 consultancy rooms, special baby care, labour and theatre units, Pediatric and Obstetric wards.

Similarly, the complex has a 150-bed capacity isolation centre.

The complex is touted to be the largest Maternal and Child healthcare facility in Nigeria.
