Gov. Buni swears-in new Yobe LG chairs, charges them on improved IGR

Governor Mai Mala Buni has on Wednesday sworn in newly elected Local Government Chairmen for the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe state with a task to focus on service to the people.

The newly elected chairmen were Alhaji Sanda Kara-Bade LGA, Alhaji Zanna Bawa-Bursari LGA, Alhaji Dala Mala Buni -Gujba LGA, Alhaji Modu Kachalla- Nguru LGA, Alh. Bukar Adamu- Damaturu LGA, Alhaji Ahmed Musa- Gulani LGA, Hajiya Halima Kyari Joda- Fika LGA, Alhaji Ali Kolo Kachalla– Geidam LGA, Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim- Yusufari LGA, Alhaji Salisu Muktar- Potiskum LGA.

Others include Alhaji Baba Goni Bade- Fune LGA, Alhaji Lawan Gana- Karasuwa, Alhaji Mohammed Musa Lamido-Tarmuwa, Alhaji Bukar A. Bukar-Machina, Alhaji Abdullahi Gwayo- Jakusko, Alhaji Salisu Yerima- Nangere and Alhaji Bukar Gaji Yunusari Local Government respectively.

Recall that on Saturday, February 27, local government elections were held across the state, including areas affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday in Damaturu, the state capital, the governor also urged the chairmen to make prudent use of resources at their disposal to ensure that government’s plans and projects are beneficial to the people. the Governor charged them to work towards improving the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, in their areas.

According to him, the local council chairmen should generate enough resources to provide services in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, education and provision of water.

Governor Buni also assured the chairmen that the state government would support them in any effort to improve the living condition of the people that elected them.

“I urge you to ensure value for money, and place public interest above personal interest in whatever official activities and make government work for the people,” the governor added.
