Gov. Eno supports businesswoman with ₦5 million after emotional outburst (Video)

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has demonstrated empathy and compassion towards a petty businesswoman who cried out to him during an event in the state.

The governor, accompanied by some government officials, was distributing empowerment materials to boost enterprise and reward excellence in education.

In a video obtained by Neptune Prime, the visibly-distressed woman cried out to the governor regarding the poor condition of her business.

The woman, while kneeling behind a barricade with her hands raised called out to the governor in tears. Governor Eno walked up to her, urging her to calm down and asked what the problem was.

She said, “I’m into food production, see the samples of tiger nut powder, fufu, and cassava that I produced. I have registered my business with CAC but the business has collapsed, I don’t even have a shop now”, she said.

Neptune Prime gathered that the governor presented over 10,000 pieces of equipment to 2000 entrepreneurs under the Arise Entrepreneurial Equipments Support Scheme, providing tools to the beneficiaries to grow their businesses and the state’s economy.

Some of the empowerment items distributed include 77 minibuses and 31 saloon cars to various beneficiaries.

Governor Eno also gifted Edidiong Essien ₦10 million for scoring 8 credits in the 2023 WASSCE.

others are a full sponsorship for Dr Joseph Akpan, who earned 10 distinctions at the University of Uyo, ₦15 million to five Akwa Ibom students who won the Singapore-Bilateral international school debate, plus ₦5 million for their teachers and ₦5 million to Otobong Philip Udoh, a female tipper truck driver breaking barriers in a male-dominated field.
