Governor’s wife distributes ₦30m, food items to 600 Christian widows, orphans

Falmata Babagana Zulum, the wife of Borno State Governor, has distributed ₦30 million in cash alongside food items to 600 Christian widows and orphans in Maiduguri as part of Christmas welfare support.

The initiative, presented on Wednesday, aims to spread joy during the festive season, especially for the less privileged.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Zulum highlighted her commitment to fostering unity and compassion during the celebrations.

“This initiative is an extension of my felicitation to Christian faithful, especially the widows and the orphans, ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations,” she said.

She also called for continued peace and harmony in the state while reaffirming the government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups.

Each beneficiary received ₦50,000 in cash, a 25kg bag of rice, 5 liters of cooking oil, and a carton of macaroni to ease their holiday celebrations.

Commending the gesture, Zuwaira Gambo, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, lauded the governor’s wife for her inclusive approach to welfare. She reiterated the present administration’s commitment to improving the lives of all citizens.

One of the recipients, Esther Bwala, expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, “The gesture will help me celebrate Christmas with joy and dignity.”

The disbursement looks at the administration’s focus on inclusivity and kindness during the festive season.
