Gunmen abduct serving corps member

A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Saadu Dauda, has been kidnapped by unknown armed men along the Katsina-Ala-Takum road.

The incident, which occurred over the weekend, saw the gunmen set up a roadblock and abduct Dauda after robbing the passengers of the vehicle he was traveling in.

According to a report from the Daily Post, Dauda was one of seven passengers in a Toyota Carina II traveling from Takum, Taraba State, to Katsina-Ala. The vehicle ran into the armed roadblock at Tsede Village, a community that borders Katsina-Ala and Takum.

After the occupants were robbed, the attackers “whisked away Dauda.” His identity was confirmed by his NYSC ID card, which was found in a bag left behind in the vehicle.

Security forces have reportedly launched a coordinated operation to find the abductors and secure the victim’s release.

As of the time of this report, the Nigeria Police Force’s state command has not released an official statement on the incident.
