The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the murder of a hotel guest, Gideon Ebukwe, by unidentified armed men at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, Igode, located in Sagamu Local Government Area.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

According to the statement, the CDC Chairman of Igbosoro, Atobatele, reported the attack at around 3:30 p.m. Odutola revealed that a group of five armed men stormed the hotel and targeted the guest, whose address remains unknown.

“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.

“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.

“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.

Odutola further stated that investigations had commenced to determine whether the killing was cult-related.

She added, “The case will be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.”
