Gunmen disguised in military uniform abduct 15 travellers, kill one in Benue
Suspected gunmen dressed in military uniforms have abducted at least 15 passengers and killed one person during an attack in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday around 7:30 pm at Ado-Okpoga along the Oju–Ado-Ekiti road.

Zagazola Makama, a publication that tracks insurgency and security developments in the Lake Chad region, reported that the victims were travelling in a commercial bus driven by Gbenga Peter, 35, from Oju LGA in Benue to Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State. The vehicle was said to be carrying 23 passengers when it was intercepted by about nine armed men.
According to the report, the attackers stopped the bus on reaching Ado-Okpoga and marched 15 of the occupants into the surrounding bush.
One passenger was allegedly shot dead during the assault, while the driver and eight others managed to escape. The survivors later reported the incident at the Okpokwu divisional police station.

The incident could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report. Efforts to reach Udeme Edet, spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages went unanswered.
