Hackers hijack Kano hisbah’s facebook page, flood it with inappropriate content
Hackers have taken control of the official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board, using it to disseminate explicit and inappropriate media. The breach, which occurred on Wednesday, has drawn widespread condemnation from the public, who are outraged at the misuse of the page, which is traditionally used for promoting moral and religious values in the state.
Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the hack during a press briefing on Friday. He expressed deep concern over the incident and called for public support to address the situation. “Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and that inappropriate content is being shared. We urge the public to assist in solving this problem,” Daurawa said.
In response to the attack, the board’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department has launched an intensive effort to regain control of the page. They are in active discussions with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to resolve the issue swiftly. The board emphasized that they are taking all necessary steps to prevent any further unauthorized access and to restore the page to its rightful state.
Sani Zailani, the Head of ICT at the Hisbah Board, revealed that this was not the first time their Facebook account had been compromised. He mentioned that the account had previously been targeted by hackers, but the latest breach was particularly severe. Zailani assured the public that Meta had promised to address the problem within 48 hours. “We appreciate the public’s concern and the support we have received so far. We are committed to recovering the page and ensuring that it is once again a platform for promoting peace and morality,” he added.

The incident has highlighted the growing threat of cyber attacks on government and religious institutions, raising questions about the security measures in place to protect such platforms. The Hisbah Board is urging the community to report the hacked page to Meta in English, which would assist in curbing the spread of the explicit content that has shocked many.
As the Hisbah Board works to restore order, the public is left grappling with the implications of the hack, which has not only damaged the board’s online presence but also tarnished its reputation.
