Houthi drone hits oil tanker, missile strikes bulk carrier in Red Sea attacks (Video)
Yemen’s Houthi forces launched two separate attacks in the Red Sea on Tuesday, targeting commercial ships.
The first attack involved an explosive-laden drone boat that struck the Panama-flagged oil tanker Cordelia Moon, approximately 110 kilometers off the port city of Hodeida.
The drone caused damage to one of the ship’s ballast tanks, which are crucial for maintaining the vessel’s stability.
The Cordelia Moon, which was en route to the Suez Canal with armed private security aboard, encountered multiple missile attempts before the drone successfully hit the ship.
The U.S. Navy’s Joint Maritime Information Center reported that four missile splashes were observed near the tanker, although none of these missiles made contact.

Shortly afterward, a second attack targeted the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Minoan Courage with a missile.
This ship was also heading towards the Suez Canal and was carrying armed security personnel. The attack was later claimed by Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree in a prerecorded message.
These attacks add to the escalating tension in the Red Sea, where Houthis have been actively targeting commercial and military vessels since the outbreak of conflict in Gaza.
Since October of last year, the Houthis have attacked over 80 ships using missiles and drones, resulting in the sinking of two vessels and the death of four sailors.
Despite their claims to target vessels connected to Israel, the U.S., and the UK, many ships with no direct link to the conflict have also been affected.
The Cordelia Moon incident follows previous attacks on vessels managed by the same Indian company, and the Houthis continue to launch missiles aimed at Israel, prompting retaliatory Israeli airstrikes in Yemen.
The Red Sea, once a critical route for global trade, has become increasingly dangerous as Houthi forces continue their campaign.
