How police officer shot young man to death in Abuja

A police officer in Kuje, Abuja, has reportedly shot a young man to death following an altercation involving a car accident.
The incident occurred near the Kuje Market Square around 5:45 pm on Friday when Musa Sa’ad, a 26-year-old grain merchant, attempted to settle a dispute involving his friends, who had been hit by a car while riding a motorcycle.
According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated when the driver of the car collided with Musa’s friends, resulting in a heated argument between them.
It was learned that the dispute prompted someone to call Musa, asking him to intervene and help calm the situation. However, as Musa arrived at the scene, he was shot in the head by a police officer stationed at the Kuje Market Square.

One witness, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, provided a detailed account of the events, saying:
“The incident took place around Kuje Market Square. Musa was called by a Civil Defense Officer to come and settle the dispute between his friends and the car driver who had hit them. His friends were on a motorcycle when the car struck them, and an argument broke out.
Musa arrived at the scene to mediate and calm everyone down. He was not aggressive or confrontational; he was just trying to help resolve the issue peacefully.
“However, as soon as he arrived, the police officer guarding the area suddenly shot him directly in the head. It happened so quickly and unexpectedly. None of us could believe what we were seeing. Musa was just standing there, trying to help, and then he was shot. It was such a shocking and tragic moment. Everyone was in disbelief.”
After the shooting, Musa’s friends immediately rushed him to Kuje General Hospital, where he was later referred to the National Hospital in Abuja.
It was reported that Musa succumbed to his injuries and was confirmed dead at the National Hospital.
Following the shooting, reports indicate that the police officers at the scene instructed the officer who had fired the shot to report to the police station.
In the aftermath, some individuals, angered by the events, set the car involved in the incident on fire, destroying it completely.
Neptune Prime has learned that Musa Sa’ad, who was involved in the grain business, was buried according to Islamic rites at Kuje Cemetery on Saturday.
Sources have gathered that the Kuje Police Command has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident or provided any clarification on the reason behind the police officer’s actions.
