Husband machetes newlywed wife to death
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man for the brutal murder of his wife.
The suspect, identified as Kelvin Izekor, allegedly killed his newlywed wife, Success Izekor, at Upper Mission Extension in Benin City on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the duo were newlyweds, and the wife was found with severe matchet injury.
“I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being killed by your husband. They were newlyweds, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer such a fate,” the witness said.

Confirming the incident to newsmen during a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson of the command, Moses Yamu said the the police had to save and arrest the man before he was lynched to death by an angry mob.
“On 22/02/2025, at about 22:00hrs, information was received that one Kelvin Izekor of No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, had killed his wife, Success Izekor, aged 38, and was about to be lynched by an irate mob.”
