Saratu Gidado popularly called Daso is a Diploma holder and an indigene of Kano State. Daso has been in the film industry for a very long time, her contemporaries are Hajara Usman, Late Aisha Dan Kano, Ibrahim Mandawari, Shehu Hassan, Lubabatu Madaki and a host of others. In fact, Daso supposed to be dominating the Kannywood film industry by now but for the fact that she does not have the physical features to sell films, people now prefer to watch films that have beautiful new faces, like Fati Washa, Hafsat Idris, Nafisa Abdullahi, Hadiza Gabon, Halima Atete, Aisha Aliyu Tsamiya, Hannatu Bashir and the likes of Aisha Muhammad, etc.

Similarly, Daso who is a married woman has refused to quit acting, but this is making it difficult for producers to give her some roles in their film because as a married woman, the costume that some actresses will wear cannot be applied to Daso. Similarly, some producers cannot ask Daso to dance for them in their films because this is contrary to our culture as a Muslim society, but still, she is very active in the industry because producers have special roles that people like her can play perfectly well.

The no-nonsense actress who married twice before, including her present husband in an interview with Neptune Prime’s correspondent, Saleh Inuwa insisted that there is nothing wrong for a married woman to continue acting. According to her, it is just like other women in professions like Journalism, Banking, Teaching, Secretarial jobs, lecturing in higher institutions and any other jobs like law and general businesses like buying and selling that involves lot of travelling, yet people prefer to complain if a married woman is still taking acting as a profession. Once a married woman in any profession can respect the ethics of her religion and always dresses decently that will not attract criticisms from members of the public, then she can continue to act as long as her husband wishes.

Our correspondent can report that Saratu Gidado’s first marriage was not successful because it was done through social media. Reports have it that she fell in love with somebody through social media and they started courtship and even got married without meeting each other, when the husband finally came down to Kano to see his bride, the lady he met face to face seem to be different from the one he was in love with through the social media. Actually, there are some things that the guy did which she did not like and before you know it, the marriage collapsed.

Later, Saratu Gidado who all along did not stop acting continued with her profession as if nothing has happened and it did not also affect her as a person. She decided to put what happened behind her and attribute it to destiny. Later she fell in love with somebody again who is not a Nigerian, he is a Nigerien but this time when they got married, she insisted to continue with acting and the man accepted.
