“I did not agree to any power-sharing deal with Atiku, Peter Obi” – Kwankwaso

“I did not agree to any power-sharing deal with Atiku, Peter Obi” – Kwankwaso

Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has vehemently denied rumours circulating about a supposed agreement between him, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to share power through alternating terms.

In an interview with the BBC, Kwankwaso expressed his anger over the false claims, stating that he had no knowledge of any such deal and had only heard that Atiku’s camp had been meeting with regional leaders and clerics to spread the narrative.

He emphasised that the reports about him agreeing to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, he would take the next four, and Obi would serve eight years were entirely fabricated.

Kwankwaso, who left the PDP for the NNPP, explained that he had found peace after distancing himself from the PDP and the “humiliation” he and his supporters faced within the party.

He also criticised the lies and deceit that led to his departure and pointed out that such falsehoods were the very reason why he, along with others like Peter Obi and Nyesom Wike, chose to leave the PDP in the first place.

“These are the same people who now come back, asking for our help to achieve their goals after humiliating us,” Kwankwaso added, further rejecting any notion of a power-sharing arrangement.
