IED explodes at popular Yobe livestock market

An explosion, suspected to be from a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED), went off at the bustling Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Friday, injuring a young girl.

A resident of Buni, Ali Hassan, informed Channels Television via telephone that the explosion injured the girl.

The spokesman for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the incident.

He also mentioned that another IED, planted in the market, was discovered and successfully detonated by the Army.

Captain Shehu assured that the only victim of the explosion is currently receiving treatment at a health facility in Buni Yadi. He emphasized that the incident involved a planted IED and was not a suicide bombing.

Buni Yadi, situated 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, was severely affected by Boko Haram insurgents’ control for two years.
