Intending pilgrims depart Kebbi Airport to Saudi Arabia for 2024 Hajj exercise

Story from Usman UMAR

A group of intending pilgrims from Kebbi State scheduled for the first flight to Saudi Arabia have departed for the 2024 pilgrimage.

The governor of the state, Nasir Idris, revealed this information in a statement posted on his social media account on Wednesday.

The transportation of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2024 pilgrimage was officially launched at the Sir Muhammadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, as stated in the announcement.

Idris stated, “This significant event is proof of the exceptional dedication of our government to the success of the 1445AH pilgrimage season, as acknowledged by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

“We are sincerely thankful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for their invaluable assistance in coordinating the 2024 pilgrimage.

“Their commitment to the success of religious journeys highlights the significance of this event both spiritually and communally.”

Idris also expressed gratitude towards NAHCON for choosing Kebbi State as the location for this inaugural flight and recognised the collaborative efforts of his team and other state governments involved.

Additionally, he urged the pilgrims to pray for Nigeria and its leadership during their time in the Holy Land, emphasizing the importance of spiritual renewal and seeking blessings for the nation and its people.

Vice President Shettima has earlier mentioned that the Federal Government allocated N90 billion for the subsidy of the 2024 pilgrimage, as disclosed during the flagging off ceremony of the inaugural airlift at the airport.
