Iran ranks as the 12th largest shoe producer globally
Ali Lashgari, a representative from the Footwear Industry Association, announced that Iran’s footwear production units have successfully manufactured 270 million pairs of shoes, covering a wide array of styles from casual to specialised footwear.
In a press briefing on Saturday, Lashgari highlighted the presence of 12,000 active industrial production facilities and an extensive distribution network of 50,000 within Iran’s footwear sector.

Interestingly, 95% of these production units are small enterprises, each employing fewer than 50 workers, underscoring the industry’s reliance on smaller businesses.
Lashgari emphasised that with adequate government support, the current production capacity could potentially propel Iran’s shoe manufacturing to the 8th position in the world rankings.
