United States and Israel launch coordinated military strikes on Iran

The United States Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces have carried out coordinated military strikes against targets in Iran, in a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Reports indicate that multiple sites, including strategic and military facilities, were hit in and around Tehran and other key locations. Explosions were reported in the Iranian capital, with plumes of smoke seen rising from affected areas.

Officials in Washington and Jerusalem described the operation as aimed at neutralising security threats, particularly concerning Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities. Israeli authorities characterised the action as pre-emptive, while U.S. officials said the strikes were conducted to address imminent risks.

Iranian authorities condemned the attacks, describing them as acts of aggression and warning that a response would follow. Emergency measures were reportedly activated, and airspace restrictions imposed as security forces assessed the damage.

The development marks one of the most significant confrontations between Iran and its adversaries in recent years, raising fears of wider regional instability. International leaders have begun calling for restraint as diplomatic efforts intensify to prevent further escalation.

The situation remains fluid, with further details expected as events unfold.
