The Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku on Tuesday sworn in 23 Commissioners after they successfully went through a thorough screening at the state House of Assembly with a call on them to carry people along.
The commissioners, drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state and a development area, were Naphtali Agbu Kefas, Dr Jesse Adi, Arc Benjamin Gani all from Wukari LGA, Dr. Badina Garba and Hon Edward Baraya came from Karim Lamido.
Others include Dr. Innocent Vakai, Ardo Lola, Dr. Gambo Ndafo, Donga, Mr. Nya Akirinkwe, Ussa, Mrs. Hauwa Kwena, Yangtu Development Area, Barr. Sam Ada and Arc. Aliyu Dankaro all from Takum, while Ibi has Mr. Obidia Asseh and Mr. Alexander Marcus Sello from Zing.
The rest are Alh. Alhassan Hassan Hamman and Mrs. Bridget Twar from Gassol, Dr. David Ishaya, Terri, Mr. Johhanness Jigem and Yusuf Njeke, Sardauna, Alh. Ibrahim Lawal, Bali, Alh. Adamu- ibrhim, Gashaka, Alh. Adamu Ibrahim, Bali, Elisha Solomon, Kurmi and Irimiya Hammanjulde, Lau as well as Alh. Saleh Sa’ad and Imam Ibrahim all from Jalingo.
In the same event, the Governor also sworn in the state Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Suzy alongside 12 permanent Secretaries who were also drawn from different local government areas of the state.
On the part of the permanent Secretaries that were sworn in include Samuel Lauya – Ardo-Kola, Isiyaka Evi Bashi – Donga, Engr. Danladi Ushiki Adamu – Donga, Lawan Garba – Gassol, Taki Zaku Badun- Ibi, Sunday Maiyaki Tanko – Karim Lamido and Henry Lackman Aleng – Sardauna.
Others are Janet Shamaki – Ussa, Umar Moh’d Abdul – Wukari, Dr. Koku Ebenezer Apake – Wukari, Daniel Atenji – Yangtu Devt Area as well as Kabiru Dahiru Marafa – Jalingo.
Addressing the newly sworn in members of the state Executive Council, Ishaku urged them to put in their very best in taking the state to a greater hight, saying that the commissioners were carefully selected from various local governments as well as tribes and ethnic groups across the state.
Darius However said the state is qualified with numerous people to be appointed into the state Executive council but he is limited by the constitution and funds.
He urged those who were not opportune to be appointed yet to keep calm as there are many more appointments ahead and they will be captured God’s willing.
The Governor, however, openly informed the commissioners that they are the middlemen between him and the people and pleaded with the people of the state not to overweigh them with so much pressure on demands as this may keep them off on their official duty.
To the new Head of Service, a lady of substance, the Governor informed her that the success of the rescue mission lays solely on her shoulder as her advises and decisions will determine how well the people and workers will fair.
Ishaku further announced that they will train and retrained as well as bring decency in the civil service, adding that there is nothing expected from the Head of Service except the best.
He called on the civil servants to cooperate with the new appointees so as to enable them to succeed in their fields of endeavor and directed that they should all be giving the agenda for the Rescue too, so as to be more familiarized with the agenda and blueprint of the administration.
The Governor assured the people that all projects started by his administration will be completed and more attended.
He pleaded with Tarabans to embrace peace, saying conflicts and crisis has never brought development to any nation or community and congratulated the appointees and wished them well in their various offices.
Barr. Nya Akirinkwe who spoke on behalf of the newly sworn in commissioners thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to be appointed into his cabinet, assuring him of their total loyalty and commitment in helping him achieve the desired developments set for the state.
On her part, the Head of service Mrs. Suzy appreciated the Governor on behalf of the newly sworn in permanent Secretaries and assured him of their unflinching support and efforts in making sure that the civil service is well coordinated and sanitize.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by state Deputy Governor, Engr Haruna Manu, the Speaker Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Albasu Alkinjo, Hon Istiphanus Haruna Gbana Chief of staff government house, Hon. Victor Bala kona PDP Chairman and Alh. Abubakar Bawa Special Adviser to the governor on political matters among others.
