ITN distribution receives wide praise in Gashua communities

The ongoing distribution of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) in Gashua has continued to attract commendations from residents who say the gesture has brought great relief and improved protection against malaria.
During a random assessment of households that collected the nets, beneficiaries in several wards—including Lawan Fannami, Lawan Musa and Sarkin Hausawa—expressed satisfaction with the quality and safety of the ITNs. Many confirmed that they have already started using the nets, noting their comfort and effectiveness.
In Gashua town, Muhammad Bazaji said he followed all instructions for airing the net before use. “I put it under the shed for some hours and later hung it. My family is now sleeping comfortably without mosquito bites,” he said.

Similarly, Hajja Bintu explained that she replaced her old mosquito net with the newly issued ITN. Alhaji Mustapha also expressed gratitude and assured that he would continue using the net for his household’s protection.
Malam Gambo, another beneficiary, said both he and his wives—Hauwa and Laraba—have been enjoying peaceful nights since they began sleeping under the net. “We will keep using the ITNs to protect ourselves from mosquitoes that spread malaria,” he affirmed.
At Lawan Fannami ward, a resident, Hajara Aliyu, said the nets have been a huge relief for her family. “I and my children sleep inside the net every night. This distribution has helped poor families who cannot afford to buy nets. It is truly commendable,” she stated.

Across the visited wards, the majority of beneficiaries described the ITNs as safe, free, and highly effective in preventing malaria-causing mosquito bites.
Residents collectively extended their appreciation to Malaria Consortium, Global Fund, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and the State Primary Healthcare Development Board for their support in ensuring healthier communities.
The widespread positive feedback highlights the growing impact of ITN utilization in Gashua, as more households commit to regular use in the fight against malaria.
