Jigawa uncovers 6,348 ghost workers receiving ₦3.7bn
The Jigawa State Government has revealed the discovery of 6,348 ghost workers during its staff verification exercise.
Mr. Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, made this announcement in a statement issued on Tuesday in Dutse.
According to the findings of the Statewide Staff Audit Biometric Data Capture and Validation Exercise, the detection of these ghost workers has resulted in savings of over ₦314 million monthly. Musa explained that the State Executive Council had reviewed the report and approved the establishment of the Continuous Capture Centre (CCC) at the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
This initiative is designed to expedite the completion of the data capture and validation process, as part of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Management System (IPPMS).
“The exercise led to the identification of 6,348 ghost workers, which has resulted in substantial cost savings, amounting to an average of ₦314,657,342.06 per month and ₦3,775,888,809.72 annually,” he said.
