KACRAN condemns Kaduna attacks, urges repentant bandits to uphold peace
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has strongly condemned the recent bandit attacks in Dawakin Basa Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing them as a direct violation of the ongoing peace efforts in the region.
Reacting to reports by BBC Hausa, KACRAN expressed deep concern over the resurgence of violence, particularly as it contradicts the peace accord brokered between the Kaduna State Government, local emirs, community leaders, and repentant bandit groups.
The association warned that such attacks threaten the fragile stability that had been achieved after more than a decade of conflict.
“As a peace-loving association, we have celebrated the progress made through the Kaduna peace accord.
The commitment of the state government and traditional leaders has been commendable, and we urge other governors in the Northwest to adopt similar measures,” KACRAN stated.

The association outlined key reasons for its strong condemnation:
Breach of Peace Agreement: The attacks undermine the ongoing reconciliation efforts that had restored normalcy in Birnin Gwari, including the reopening of cattle markets and the return of displaced communities.
Violation of Cultural Ethics: The actions contradict the Pulaaku principles, which emphasise honesty and the fulfilment of agreements.
Setback to Peace Advocates: The attacks pose a serious embarrassment to the Kaduna State Governor, the Emir of Birnin Gwari, and peace advocates like KACRAN, who have worked tirelessly to promote dialogue over violence.
Threat to Regional Security: With federal and state governments closely monitoring the success of the Kaduna peace accord, such attacks could derail broader peace initiatives across the Northwest.
KACRAN issued a firm call to action, urging repentant bandits to take swift measures to prevent further breaches of trust by rogue elements among them. “It is their duty to ensure that the peace process remains intact and that communities are protected from violence,” the statement read.
The association also appealed to residents of Dawakin Basa to avoid retaliatory actions that could escalate the situation. Additionally, KACRAN urged the Kaduna State Government to provide necessary support to sustain the reintegration of repentant bandits and prevent further insecurity.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and stability in Nigeria, KACRAN vowed to continue working with relevant stakeholders to strengthen security and community rebuilding efforts in Kaduna and beyond.
