KACRAN urges NEDC to sustain efforts in livestock, regional development
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has called on the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to maintain its commendable initiatives aimed at advancing the livestock sector and promoting regional development in the North East.
In a statement signed by its National President, Hon. Khalil Moh’d Bello, KACRAN acknowledged the NEDC’s efforts in fostering peace, rebuilding communities, and supporting pastoralists, describing the Commission as a model for effective governance and regional transformation.
KACRAN highlighted several achievements of the NEDC, including its commitment to inclusive governance under the leadership of Managing Director Alhaji Mohammed Alkali and Director of Finance and Administration Dr. Garba Iliya.
The association praised the Commission’s collaboration with local governments and security agencies to restore peace and stability, which it said is vital for development in the region.

The association commended the NEDC for its role in disaster response and infrastructure development, citing its intervention during the Maiduguri flood and its efforts in renovating schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges. It also praised the Commission for distributing palliatives to both Christian and Muslim communities during festive seasons, reflecting its dedication to equitable support for all.
According to KACRAN, the NEDC’s inclusion of pastoralists in its policies, such as establishing water points and distributing palliatives, demonstrates its commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by the region’s nomadic communities.
KACRAN appealed to the National Assembly to provide adequate financial support to the NEDC, emphasizing the need to sustain its development projects and address emerging security challenges in the region.
The association also urged newly established development commissions across the country to emulate the NEDC’s approach to governance and regional development.
“The NEDC’s exemplary performance has set a standard for effective regional transformation, and its achievements deserve to be sustained and supported,” the statement read.
