Kaduna community gives mass burial to villagers burnt beyond recognition by bandits

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Villagers killed by bandits on Sunday in Adama Gindin Dutse community, Doka, in Kufana District of the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been given a mass burial.

The victims were burnt beyond recognition by the criminals, hence the mass burial.

Neptune Prime reports that bandits in their numbers stormed the community around 6 am on Sunday, killing the villagers and setting their houses ablaze.

The state government, through the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, condemned the attack and directed the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to provide assistance to the victims.

Some survivors recounted their ordeal, lamenting that the attackers burnt the victims after killing them.

One of the survivors, who sought anonymity, explained how he escaped from the attackers, saying it was just the grace of God that saw him through.

He added that he escaped and hid inside the animals’ hut, stressing that he was able to make calls to soldiers, who responded immediately, forcing the bandits to leave the area.

“This is a remote village, and as far as we are concerned, they only came to wipe the community completely with the way they killed and set people’s bodies on fire,” he said.

He appealed to Governor Uba Sani to immediately deploy more security personnel to the area, adding that foodstuff should also be provided to the villagers to cushion their suffering.
