Kano court restrains Anti-Corruption Commission from inviting former Gov. Ganduje
A Federal High Court in Kano has issued a restraining order against the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, preventing them from inviting or arresting former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The court, presided over by Justice A. M Liman, granted the order based on an ex parte application made by Mr. B. Hemba, counsel to the applicant.
The anti-graft agency had previously invited Ganduje for questioning regarding an alleged dollar video. However, the court has now instructed the agency, as well as seven other respondents, to halt any further action in this matter.

The respondents named in the suit include the Nigeria Police, Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police for Kano State, State Security Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Attorney General of the Federation, Attorney General of Kano State, and the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The court order prohibits all respondents from harassing, arresting, inviting, or detaining Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, or any former appointees who served under his administration until the substantive originating motion is heard and determined.
The order states, “The respondents, whether by themselves or through their officers, men, operatives, agents, or any persons or groups, are hereby restrained from harassing, intimidating, detaining the applicant, his children, any member of his family, or any appointee who served under his administration until the hearing and determination of the substantive originating motion.”
Furthermore, the order prohibits the respondents from forcefully seizing properties belonging to Ganduje’s children, family members, or former appointees pending the hearing and determination of the substantive originating motion.
Justice Liman has specified that the interim order will remain in effect until the hearing of the motion for the enforcement of Fundamental Human Rights, scheduled for July 14, 2023.
