The Kano State Government has sealed an illegal private medical laboratory operating without registration at Minjibir LGA.
The Executive Secretary of Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu, announced this on Wednesday in an interview with Solacebase.
Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu said the closure of the illegal private medical laboratory was carried out during the agency’s ongoing inspection and enforcement exercise.
“The raid was sequel complaints received from concerned people of the LGA on the illegal and suspicious activities going on in the laboratory”, said the Executive Secretary.
The ES noted that one Isma’il Adda’u Gambo, a Medical Laboratory Technician was single-handedly managing the illegal laboratory.
The erring laboratory owner will be sanctioned appropriately as soon as the investigation is concluded by the Agency.
Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu then called on people to continue reporting any illegal or suspicious health practices within their community to PHIMA for prompt action and end quackery.
