Kano police parade 96 apprehended criminals

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Ninety-six suspected criminals, who have been causing havoc in Kano State and its surroundings, have been apprehended by the police.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammad Usaini Gumel, made this announcement while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

This significant operation is part of the ongoing efforts to effectively police the state and ensure a smooth and secure transition.

Gumel revealed that the arrests were made in connection with various offenses, including drug and substance abuse, mobile phone robbery, kidnapping, armed robbery, and motor vehicle theft.

The recovered items displayed during the parade include three locally made guns, several dangerous fabricated weapons, four motor vehicles, two tricycles, six motorcycles, a roll of power cables, two plasma TVs, an air conditioner, two jerricans of 25 liters of palm oil, a gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, wristwatches, and twenty-eight peg-irons used for grave identification in the cemetery.

CP Gumel expressed his gratitude to the good people of Kano State for their prayers, support, encouragement, understanding, and cooperation.

He also appealed to them to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and conscious of their security at all times.

Following the completion of investigations, the suspects will be taken to court.

However, tension is palpable in Kano as the governorship election tribunal is scheduled to deliver its judgment on Thursday.
