A lucky driver in Kano went home with the sum of N500,000 given to him by friends of Yusuf Buhari when he took them to the venue of Yusuf’s wedding party, one of them gave the driver $100 dollars because according to him, he does not have local currency on him.
The driver was so excited that as he collected the money which he never knew what was in the minds of the president’s son friends openly displayed the money including the 100 dollars given to him and was full of appreciation to those that gave him the money and prayed for the success of the wedding including journey mercies to all the guest at the ceremony.
Yusuf’s wedding will remain fresh for a very long time in the minds of Kano people and those that attended, at least, more than 35 private jets that conveyed VIPs to Kano landed at the Aminu Kano International Airport (Makia), including the presidential jet (Airforce 1) that took president Buhari and his close associates to Kano.
Some of the VIPs at the occasion include; The President, Former President of Niger Republic Muhammad Yusuf, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar III, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Chief of Staff to the President Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari, Emirs, Ministers, Chiefs, Diplomats, Businessmen and women were at the ceremony which ended on a peaceful note without security hitches.
Later, the guest moved to Kano for the wedding dinner, while some of the personalities left for their various destinations from the Aminu Kano International Airport, for two days, it was very difficult to find a free hotel to lodge in Kano, those that are available doubled or tripled their charges.
Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was absent from the wedding ceremony, Kano Businessman Aminu Dantata represents the groom’s family while Mamman Daura stood in for the bride’s, Yusuf Buhari himself was at the venue of the ceremony to add colour to the event.
Meanwhile, Kaduna state-based cleric Dr Ahmad Gumi condemned the lavish nature in which the marriage was conducted now that Nigerians are facing severe hunger and suffering, he added that President Muhammadu Buhari has nothing to tell Nigerians about his incorruptible posture because the event has proved that given the chance, the number one family can behave like other corrupt leaders in the country.
