Kidnapped baby in Niger rescued unharmed at market dumpsite

A six-month-old baby, Chinedu Chukwueke, who was abducted from his mother’s shop at Kure Ultra Modern Market in Minna, the capital of Niger State, has been found safe.

The baby’s father, Chikezie Stanley Chuks, disclosed this on Wednesday, providing a sigh of relief for the worried family.

According to Mr. Chuks, the baby was found abandoned at a refuse dump close to Gauraka police station in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was reported that the baby was taken from his mother’s shop by an unknown individual who had deceived her, claiming to be interested in learning hairdressing.

Mr. Chuks jubilantly stated, “The baby has been found! He was dumped at a refuse dump close to Gauraka police station, but fortunately, he is in good health.”

Confirming the news, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the baby was found on Wednesday at approximately 12:30 pm.

He explained, “Thanks to sustained pressure and close monitoring, the baby was discovered abandoned at an erosion ditch near Gauraka Primary School in the Gauraka area of Tafa LGA.”

Following the rescue, the baby was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a thorough medical examination, and thankfully, he was confirmed to be in good health. Subsequently, he was reunited with his family, bringing immense relief to all involved.

DSP Wasiu Abiodun assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrator of this heinous crime. Once caught, the criminal will face the full force of the law for their actions.
