Kidnappers kill 10yr-old-boy after N150,000 ransom payment

The Rikkos community in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of 10-year-old Tasi’u Abdullahi, even after his family paid part of a ransom demanded by his abductors.

The boy’s lifeless body was discovered on Friday, abandoned in a sack near his family’s home, days after his abduction on December 16. According to his grieving uncle, Aliyu Muhammad, Tasi’u was lured away in front of his house by unidentified individuals.

Five days later, the kidnappers contacted the family, demanding N1 million in ransom but later settled for N300,000 after negotiations. The family managed to pay N150,000 through a bank transfer. Shockingly, a woman later called to inform them that the child had been killed despite the payment.

“When we examined his body, it was evident he had been strangled. Blood was seen coming out of his nose and mouth,” Muhammad tearfully recounted.

Two suspects have reportedly been arrested in connection with the heinous crime. The Plateau State Police Command, led by Commissioner Adesina, has vowed to ensure justice is served for Tasi’u’s senseless killing.

The community continues to reel in shock, calling for swift action against the perpetrators of this atrocity.
