Kwara State Govt implements three-day workweek for public servants amid transport fare hike
The Kwara State Government has implemented a temporary measure to alleviate the burden on public workers in the state, given the steep increase in transport fares.
A press release, signed by Murtala Atoyebi, the Chief Press Secretary of the Office of the Head of Service (OHOS), outlined the government’s action.
In an announcement today, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, the State Head of Service, revealed that Governor Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazak had instructed a reduction in work days for all state employees. Instead of the usual five-day workweek, employees would now work only three days per week.
Mrs. Oluwole clarified that this decision aimed to alleviate the hardship faced by state workers due to the removal of fuel subsidies announced by the Federal Government.
She further instructed all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to promptly establish a schedule indicating the alternating work days for each employee under their supervision.
However, the Head of Service cautioned employees against exploiting the Governor’s generosity.
She emphasized that her office would intensify its regular monitoring of MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
