Lady abducts ex-lover who refused marrying her, demands N5 million ransom (Video)

A 23-year-old lady identified as Maryam Mohammed has narrated how she abducted her ex-lover who refused to marry her after a long-time courtship.

According to the Kano State Police Command, Maryam, who is popularly known as Hajiya was arrested by police operatives at Jaba quarters, Ungogo Local Government Area of the state while negotiating a ransom with the family of one of her captives on Tuesday, 12 January.

She claimed that her uncle whom she identified as Hamza Dogo introduced her to the crime after she had parted ways with her ex-lover.

Maryam narrates her story:

“I was introduced to kidnapping by my uncle called Hamza Dogo from Butsa village, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State and the first person we kidnapped was my ex-boyfriend who refused to marry me despite my efforts to convince him during our years of courtship.

“After he had dumped me, my uncle asked me to bring him so that we could hold him until he paid before we would release him.

“When we kidnapped him, his family paid N5 million to secure his freedom and out of that amount, I was given N800,000 with which I rented that house at Jaba quarters.”

Two other victims of Maryam whose names were not mentioned also narrated their ordeals to the police.

One who is a phone dealer said, “Maryam is my customer, she asked me to bring a phone to her house in Zoo road which I did. She said I will get my balance at her place. When I went to her house for my balance, I met someone that I know in Kantin Kwari market and we exchanged pleasantries before I sat down.

“After some minutes, Maryam came and started strangling my neck and her gang members joined her. I tried to struggle but they overpowered me and tied me up.”

Parading other suspects before newsmen, police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said investigation conducted by the police revealed that Maryam’s former husband, one Sani Ismail, was a notorious cattle rustler who was killed in Butsa village, Gusau LGA of Zamfara State while carting away rustled cows.

He said other members of the criminal gang include Sani Ibrahim, 35-year-old, and Shamsuddeen Suleiman, 21-year-old both of Butsa village, Gusau LGA, Zamfara State.

The last member of the gang is one Ishaq Khalil, 32-year-old, of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Fagge LGA of Kano State.
