Lady laments after she was fined for not getting road worthiness certificate for new car

A lady has called out the Lagos State Government after she was fined for not having road worthiness certificate for a brand new car.

According to the lady in a series of tweets on her Twitter handle, @pwanaduku on Saturday, July 1, 2023 she received a text message from the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) that she has been penalised for not having a road worthiness certificate for a brand new she thought was eligible for five but to her surprise she found out that it one year for a company car.

She said should have been informed with the deadline to rectify the status instead of tagging her as “First Offender”.

“Dear @followlasg

I am a law abiding citizen of Lagos State. 2 nights ago I was shocked to receive an sms that I had been fined for not having road worthiness on a car that I thought was eligible for 5 years as a brand new car. Went immediately to a centre & discovered that it was 1 year for a company car,” she wrote on Twitter.

“We strive for a Lagos with a human face.

If information was synced with AutoReg, an sms with a deadline to rectify status would have been ideal. If there is default, by all means, fine.

“Straight away fine & tagged “First Offender” was painful.

“Not everyone is insincere, kindly apply reasonable doubt until proven otherwise. I don’t want to rat on the centre we went to but I will like to imagine that there is platform to pay & obtain a completed form to present to a service centre or is it true that we pay cash only?

“Kindly assist to advise appropriate steps to get the necessary documentation in place and delete this “First Offender” forever.

@Mr_JAGs please,” she tweeted.
