Lagos govt marks 17 buildings for demolition in Alaba int’l market  

About seventeen (17) buildings in advanced condition of distress will be up for demolition inside the popular Alaba International Market in Ojo Local Government Area (LGA) in Lagos State, according to the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

This was disclosed by Gbolahan Oki, General Manager, LASBCA, on Friday.

This comes several days after the state government identified locations of over 340 distressed buildings across the metropolis to be demolished in order to prevent loss of lives and property in the state.

The planned demolition became necessary according to the General Manager, is to prevent them from collapsing on inhabitants while reducing the number of damaged structures in the state.

Some of the buildings – shopping plazas marked for demolition by LASBCA include; G80 Alaba Rago Road, Good Season Shopping Complex, the building on 840 Ojo Igbede and the structure behind Oba Oseni Plaza, among others.
