Lagos Task Force arrests street beggers

 

The Lagos State Task Force has successfully arrest a group of beggars, along with their children, in a recent crackdown aimed at reducing public nuisance caused by street begging.

According to reports, the individuals were arrest for engaging in the unlawful act of begging on major streets, which has become a growing concern for residents and authorities alike.

In a statement shared on his X page, the State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests that took place during a targeted raid against public nuisance.

A total of 27 individuals, including 15 minors, were apprehended along key routes such as Awolowo Way to Falomo roundabout, Ikoyi, and Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue along Lekki road.

The suspects were reportedly begging in the middle of the road during traffic when they were taken into custody.
