Residents of Daura local government area of Katsina State were thrown into deep mourning on Sunday after a man identified as Ibrahim Lawal hanged himself.
It was reported that the middle-aged man was a worker at the Sandamu Local Government Area of the state, but residing in Daura.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity, said he saw the deceased on Sunday driving his car towards a mechanic workshop.
“I asked whether he was in the neighbourhood to repair his car but he said no. He did not say anything afterwards and just walked away,” he added.
Shortly after, passersby discovered Lawal’s lifeless body dangling from a tree where he allegedly used a rope to hang himself.
Residents said after the body was discovered, a call was made to the police, who came and remove Lawal’s corpse.
Lawal’s remains were later buried in Daura on Sunday according to Islamic rites.
