Maguire’s Late Header Silences Anfield as United Stun Liverpool 2–1

Manchester United snatched a stunning 2–1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, thanks to a towering 84th-minute header from captain Harry Maguire that left the home crowd in disbelief.
The Red Devils made a dream start just two minutes into the encounter when Bryan Mbeumo latched onto a precise through ball and coolly slotted past Giorgi Mamardashvili, handing United a shock early lead.
Liverpool, stung by the early setback, spent much of the first half on the front foot, launching relentless attacks that repeatedly rattled the woodwork. Cody Gakpo was particularly unlucky, striking the post twice before halftime as United’s defense clung on under heavy pressure.

However, just as Liverpool looked poised to turn the game around, United struck again. Bruno Fernandes whipped in a perfectly timed volleyed cross, and Maguire rose highest to glance the ball into the far corner, freezing Mamardashvili and silencing Anfield.

Liverpool’s desperate push for a second equalizer came to nothing as United held firm to secure a statement win one that could prove pivotal in their Premier League campaign.
The result ends Liverpool’s unbeaten home run and sends a strong message from Erik ten Hag’s men, who left Merseyside with all three points and the roar of their jubilant travelling fans echoing long after the final whistle.
