Man breaches bank’s security, hides in ceiling overnight to tamper with systems (Video)
A major security breach has rocked an FCMB branch in Nigeria after an unidentified man reportedly sneaked into the bank during working hours, hid inside the ceiling overnight, and attempted to tamper with its computer systems.
The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, unfolded when the suspect entered the bank posing as a regular customer.
Instead of exiting at closing time, he reportedly locked himself inside the toilet and later accessed the ceiling space, where he remained hidden until nightfall.
The following morning, bank staff members were alarmed to find the toilet locked from the inside.
Upon forcing the door open, they discovered the suspect in the act of interfering with the bank’s computer systems.

Witnesses say that some terminals began displaying unusual messages such as “restarting, click OK to accept,” suggesting an attempt to breach or manipulate internal data systems.
The dramatic incident has triggered widespread outrage and concern, particularly after footage emerged, showing the suspect being beaten by security personnel and police officers.
In the viral videos, the man was seen dragged out of the ceiling crawlspace and assaulted with wooden planks before police intervention—who also reportedly joined in the beating.
Social media reactions have been swift and divided.
While some users focused on the apparent security lapses, others decried the use of excessive force by law enforcement.
“The police allowed their emotions override their professionalism. So, so sad,” one user wrote.
“This is not how suspects should be treated,” another commented.
“He could have critical information that should be extracted through proper interrogation, not jungle justice.”

Others speculated that the man might have had help from within the bank.
“No visitor just sneaks into a ceiling and heads straight for sensitive systems. He was aided by someone who knows the layout,” one post read.
Questions are also being raised about the absence of effective surveillance.
“How was a man able to hide overnight without being noticed? Where were the security cameras?” another user asked.
Critics have called out the bank for negligence, with many demanding a review of its security protocols.
“If there had been overnight monitoring or motion detectors, this wouldn’t have happened,” one tweet said.
The incident has also reignited public scrutiny of police conduct in Nigeria.
“Our police don’t even use handcuffs—they go straight to assault,” a user wrote, reflecting a broader frustration with law enforcement practices.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the break-in or the conduct of officers seen in the viral footage.
Meanwhile, public debate continues to grow—not only about the attempted breach but also about the treatment of suspects, the accountability of police officers, and the need for stronger security in financial institutions.
