Man drags wife to court alleging physical abuse, disrespect
Raphael Chima, a businessman, has taken his wife, Joy, to a Customary Court in Jikwoyi, Abuja, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), citing consistent physical abuse as the reason.
The allegations were laid out in a divorce petition that Raphael submitted against Joy.
According to him, “My wife subjects me to physical abuse and constant harassment, even resorting to slapping me at the slightest of provocations. Furthermore, she subjects me to mental abuse.”
Raphael also brought to the court’s attention that his wife displays disrespect towards his parents.

He revealed that she has distanced herself from their only child, leaving him as the sole caregiver.
Seeking resolution, he appealed for the dissolution of their marriage and requested custody of their child.
Joy, on the other hand, refuted the accusations.
Presiding over the case, Judge Dada Oluwaseyi advised the couple to consider reconciliation.
The matter has been adjourned by Oluwaseyi for either a report on settlement or further hearing.
