Have you meet the Alius? They are a family of 5 sisters from Kogi State who is all certified medical doctors. They are a beckon of hope to women and a reference point for the importance of girl-child education in Nigeria, in particular, are Africa in general.
While celebrating health workers fighting coronavirus in the front lines, social media influencer @ovieali shared the pictures of these wonderful ladies saying it was his own way of saying thank you to all health workers for their spirited fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The five sisters are all doctors with different specialities ranging from a neurosurgeon, an obstetrician, a plastic surgeon, a family physician, and a community health physician.
The sisters who are said to be from Okene in Kogi State are known as
- Salamat Aliu (the first female neurosurgeon in West Africa).
2. Halima Aliu (plastic surgeon).
3. Raliat Aliu (an obstetrician and gynaecologist).
4. Khadijah Aliu (a family physician).
5. Medinah Aliu (public health physician).
A medical doctor @otiteakpovona who has worked with some of the sisters before also in February 2020, shared their pictures on Twitter. He said they are wonderful doctors and able colleagues to work with.
