Mentally challenged beggar stabs 20-year-old man for refusing to give him money in Port Harcourt

A mentally challenged beggar has stabbed a young man in Port Harcourt for refusing to give him money at his begging spot.

The incident, which happened at Choba Junction axis of the East/West Road of Rivers state, occurred on Wednesday in the morning.

The victim, a 20-year-old man was said to be awaiting a shuttle to ferry him to Rumuokoro when he was attacked by the mad man.

According to reports, the beggar, who is also popular in the area, had allegedly approached the young man for money, but the man ignored him and walked away.

Angered by the young man’s action, the ‘lunatic’ brought out a knife and stabbed him.

The victim immediately slumped and was rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital by passersby, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Angered by his action, a crowd that witnessed the incident, comprising of traders, motorists and pedestrians, instantly pounced on the beggar and gave him a beating of his life before the intervention of security officials.
