Iran threatens response to Israeli strikes on Beirut as reports emerge of U.S -Iran peace deal
Iran has warned that recent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahyeh will not go unanswered, raising fears of a fresh escalation in the Middle East.
Mohammad Jafar Asadi, Deputy Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Israel’s attack on the Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut was a “crime” that would receive a response from Tehran. Iranian officials described the strike as a dangerous escalation and accused Israel of undermining ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The Israeli strike reportedly killed at least three people and wounded several others in Beirut’s southern suburbs. The warning comes as reports indicate the United States and Iran are close to reaching a preliminary peace agreement aimed at ending months of regional tensions. According to Reuters and other international media outlets, the proposed framework would see Iran commit not to pursue nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States would unfreeze approximately $25 billion in Iranian assets and ease some sanctions.
Israeli media outlet Channel 12 has reportedly claimed that President Donald Trump proposed releasing additional funds to Iran in exchange for Tehran refraining from attacking Israel. However, major international news agencies have not independently confirmed that specific claim. Current verified reports indicate that any asset release forms part of a broader peace and de-escalation package rather than a direct payment tied solely to avoiding attacks on Israel.
