Mexican nurse dies during self-administered liposuction
A Mexican nurse identified as Carina has died while performing liposuction on herself after self-administering anesthesia.
The 30-year-old was working at Clinica Amper, a south-central clinic in Mexico, at the time of her death.
According to the clinic’s owner, Dr Rolando Samper Mendoza, Carina performed the surgery without his authorization or permission while he was absent.
He said: “She was attempting to perform liposuction on her own stomach using a local anesthetic, which resulted in a massive absorption of the anesthetic and cardiorespiratory arrest.
“Despite efforts by paramedics to revive her, she passed away”.
It is believed that Carina was not professionally trained to administer anesthesia, which may have contributed to her death.
